But the Android users wondered 'What about us?', Honda Motorcycles will offer the Android Auto Infotainment System on the Honda Gold Wing and Honda Gold Wing Tour models by the mid of June 2020.
The best part about this new Android Auto Infotainment System is that it is backwards compatible to 2018 and newer Gold Wings, and it's free.
Android Auto uses Google Assistant, voice activation and a simplified interface to work in the two-wheel environment. The main motive behind the integration of Android Auto on Honda Gold Wing is that the rider can focus on the road as much as possible with least distractions. The hands-free design of Android Auto makes it easier to use and get the best out of motorcycle riding.
Android Auto features include Music Playing, Audiobooks, Podcast, News Reports, Voice Messaging and Making and Receiving Phonecalls. For touring, Android Auto also gives you direct access to navigation apps such as Google Maps and Waze.
You are no longer restricted to play the downloaded music on the bike from your Android Phone. As Spotify, Youtube Music, Amazon Music, IHeartRadio are part of Android Auto's available and customizable suite of application, You can stream your favourite music on the go. You can also have direct access to various Radio Stations as well.
Note: Android Auto only works with Android versions 5.0 or higher.
Although Apple Car Play and Android Auto both are only compatible with the 2018 Gold Wings or higher models. Honda also announced that they will add this feature to their adventure motorcycle lineup such as the Honda Africa CRF1100 soon.
